Presented by Stage61 Australia
Stage61 Australia is thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming musical Sweet Charity — a vibrant, funny, and heartfelt show filled with iconic songs, dazzling dance numbers, and unforgettable characters.
We’re looking for passionate performers, dancers, and singers of all experience levels to join our 2026 production!
Sweet Charity follows the adventures of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopeful dance hall hostess searching for love and a better life.
Despite heartbreak and setbacks, Charity remains optimistic, surrounded by friends and full of dreams.
With a book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman, and choreography inspired by Bob Fosse, this show features timeless hits like:
🎶 Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, Rhythm of Life, and There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This.
*Details regarding audition, rehearsal, and performance dates will be released soon
All auditionees will take part in a first-round audition that includes singing, dancing, and acting.
Our Stage61 creative team will be there to support and guide you throughout the process.
SINGING:
You’ll be asked to perform around 32 bars (about one verse and chorus) of a song that best showcases your voice, personality, and storytelling.
Please choose a musical theatre song in the style of the show or one that suits the character you’re interested in.
(Please do not sing a song from Sweet Charity.)
You must bring your own backing track — no accompanist or a cappella performances will be available.
-
Backing tracks should be ready to play from your phone or device via Bluetooth. You can also send your backing track to us prior your audition
-
Make sure it’s in the correct key and clearly cued to start where you need.
DANCING:
You’ll be taught a short dance routine on the day to show your movement skills, energy, and stage presence.
Some performers may be invited to a dance callback for a more advanced combination.
Note: Not all roles require strong dance ability — we’re looking for character and confidence as much as choreography!
Please wear comfortable clothing or activewear that allows free movement.
Avoid heels, thongs, or restrictive outfits.
ACTING:
You’ll be asked to perform a short monologue of your choice that showcases your acting ability, characterisation, and stage presence. Please choose a piece that is 1–2 minutes long and suited to a musical theatre or contemporary style.
In addition, you may be asked to cold-read a short scene from Sweet Charity.
A script will be provided at your audition. A member of the panel will read opposite you during your audition.
